FAQ

When was Junglecity Network, Inc. launched?

Takumi Ono launched Junglecity Network, Inc. in May of 1998. It was November 8 of 1998 when she launched Junglecity.com, which is what many Japanese expatriates and tourists know us of. Junglecity.com is the first most comprehensive Japanese website about this area. Prior to Junglecity, the only Japanese publications were a community newspaper and two free biweekly and monthly community papers with much less content. Junglecity.com has been the largest and most comprehensive Japanese website of this area since.

Why "Junglecity"?

"Junglecity" means a mix of different culture and people that we can find in Seattle. It¨s also derived from the American saying of "It¨s a jungle out there." A foreign city can sometimes seem like a jungle. Our goal is to inform users by providing comprehensive and accurate information in a way that will connect the Japanese with our region. Junglecity gives our users the opportunity to make informed decisions. We connect people and enable them to exchange information and share their experiences. "I am often asked this question," Takumi says. "People say, 'there's evergreen, not jungle here.'" To me, the name of our website has to describe its characteristics: unique, energetic and fun. So people won't forget it even if they just overheard it at a party.

What kind of information does Junglecity.com provide?

Junglecity.com provides a vast amount of useful and practical information partly based on our experiences as expatriates living in a foreign country. It provides the latest information on living, news, entertainment, sports, leisure, arts, and more in the Pacific Northwest to locals, future residents and tourists who read and write Japanese. Visitors also actively exchange a variety of information, develop discussions and make friends on our bulletin boards. News, event calendar, feature articles, living guide, restaurant guide, café guide, tea house guide, bakery guide, hotel guide, essays and columns, childcare information, interviews, and of course, a whole section dedicated to the Seattle Mariners.
